Welcome to Girl World

A weekly newsletter inspired by Barbieland

Welcome to Girl World 💋, a weekly newsletter inspired by Barbieland serving up inspirational content, need-to-know information, women in action, and a few bits and bites. We’re women—of course we can wear pink and crush our business goals. A Late August Media publication.

It’s unofficially the first week of fall and we’re getting back to the business of life after our summer trips to Italy, Ibiza, Paris, and wherever we could get the best tickets to see The Eras Tour in Europe. We’re dialing in our goals, re-organizing our closets, pulling out our fall wardrobes even though it’s 90 degrees, and mostly soaking in the fresh start vibes. We’re all-in on Instagram and Tiktok where you can skillfully refine your algorithm to #BookTok and #TarotTok, and that guy that jumps rope every day

Speaking of social media, the “founder mode” conversation dominated several platforms, but women founders quickly highlighted the difference women leaders face when trying to implement founder mode. How can we fix this? Drop us a note at [email protected] with your suggestions. And, the new interview between Maisy Stella and Anne Hathaway just dropped, and it’s an incredible read.

Let’s dig into this week’s reads.

The Weekly 6

  1. We’re in love with Lady Gaga’s Vogue October cover story, her tour to promote Joker: Folie à Deux while hard launching her new engagement, that new album coming in Feb 2025, and her undeniable style.

  2. You better believe that Everyone Watches Women’s Sports and we’re here for it.

  3. Dive deeper into the new Miu Miu Women’s Tales Director’s vision and her new short film El Affaire Miu Miu

  4. We must prioritize Black Women’s Wellness. Period.

  5. Let’s make dinner parties a thing again. We endorse these tips from The Bear’s Culinary Director, Courtney Storer

  6. Let’s talk money, shall we? How One Founder Is Helping Other Women Transform Their Relationship With Money

What We’re Doing This Weekend

We’re still listening to Sabrina Carpenter’s new album Short n’ Sweet on repeat because we cannot get enough. Of course, we always know we can do it with a broken heart while we patiently wait for Reputation Taylor’s Version to be released. We’re enjoying the last weeks of summer weather while it’s still here. We’re planning our next dinner party, but highly suggest a Taylor Swift-themed party before fall sets in. We’re also headed to see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice starring Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, and Catherine O’Hara for opening weekend and watching The Perfect Couple starring Nicole Kidman on Netflix.

Without a doubt, we’re heading to the farmer’s market while summer tomatoes are still available, but we’re starting to eye that fall squash too. If you’re still on the summer tomato train, try this tomato salad recipe. If you’re ready for fall squash, we’re dying to try this skillet butternut squash blossom.
