Girl World #19: Sabrina's Hair, Friendships, Grammys, Laughter, Building Empires, Pilates, It Boots, Skinny Jeans, Rising Signs and Dolly Parton

All the girlie things to say goodbye to January!

Welcome to Girl World, a weekly newsletter inspired by Barbieland serving up inspirational content, need-to-know information, women in action, and a few bits and bites. We’re women—of course we can wear pink and crush our business goals. A Late August Media publication.

Happy last day of January 2025! Whew—we made it through the month that would never end.

We’re excited about the fresh start of a new month—it’s a fun one with awards shows, Galentine’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and some exciting new TV series and movies premiering. Some of our faves include: White Lotus Season 3, Scamanda, Kate Hudson’s Running Point, Suits LA, and Amy Schumer’s Kinda Pregnant.

More importantly, February is a new opportunity to create community, start a new hobby, buy a fresh notebook, organize your closet like you keep promising you’re going to do, try out a new fitness class, or re-start those resolutions we’ve already kind of maybe forgotten about. It’s ok, we all do it.

  2. 50 power women share the one thing they can’t live without. Our faves? Sleep, dogs, Theragun, Broadway Tickets, and Ghia.

  3. Our millennial hearts are loving this Charlie’s Angels reunion to support our girl Demi.

  4. The surprising history behind pasta shapes—because we were curious!

  5. Unplugging and digital detoxing is the ultimate self-care this year. Those 12 hours without TikTok were glorious!

  6. An exploration of laughter—Kirsten Bell explores laughter as a social, cultural, and cross-species phenomenon.

With the chilly weather subsiding this weekend in Chicago, we’re heading outside for some longer walks and exploring the city (aka shopping and eating croissants). It also happens to be Chicago Restaurant Week, which means we’re trying out a new restaurant and supporting our local businesses! Plus, it gives us the opportunity to put together a cute outfit, right?

This week’s baking project includes these sourdough discard brownies—even if you don’t have sourdough discard, we highly recommend kicking off February with brownies.

We’re awards show stans so we’ll be tuning into the Grammys on Sunday, and are super excited to see Taylor Swift present and all of the fun fashion moments on the red carpet.

Of course, a little self-care is order. We booked a massage (90 minutes or bust!) and a nail appointment, which pairs nicely with our plans to read and take a detox soak.
