Girl World #17: Princess Kate, Secretly Rich Millennials, Demi, Forest Bathing, Blended Orgasms, Manifesting, Fortune 500 CEOs, Athens Riviera + More

We're layering moisturizers and planning our 2025 vacations

Welcome to Girl World, a weekly newsletter inspired by Barbieland serving up inspirational content, need-to-know information, women in action, and a few bits and bites. We’re women—of course we can wear pink and crush our business goals. A Late August Media publication.

This week’s features are fun, inspiring, thought-provoking, interesting, and actionable. We’re manifesting our best year yet, digging into the behind-the-scenes story of a pickleball brand, thinking about Anu Duggal lesson’s from building a fund investing in women-founded companies, considering forest bathing again, planning our 2025 vacations, and trying out purple glitter eyeshadow.

Now, let’s talk awards season content—an annual fave. The 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday night was a great opportunity to check out from current events and enjoy all of the Hollywood glam, hilarious jokes from host Nikki Glaser (who knocked it out of the park), inspiring acceptance speeches, and watching the joy of being celebrated for your work. The Grammys are up next—tentatively scheduled for Feb 2 (pending any rescheduling due to the L.A. wild fires).

Speaking of L.A.’s wild fires, our heart is broken for L.A. and Malibu. Many of our favorites places and spaces have been destroyed. Memories, lives, animals, homes, businesses, and so much more have been lost. We’re sending light and love to our L.A. community right now.

Girl World Side Note: While Girl World serves as a weekly dose of positivity, fun, and inspiration, it goes without saying that the first two weeks of 2025 have been challenging and full of daily chaos and tragedy. You might feel overwhelmed. You might feel powerless or struggling to focus. You might be sad or disassociating. These are all reasonable responses to what we’re all feeling and seeing. These two resources feature tactics and strategies for coping with current world events and surviving tough times

Do what you need to do to take care of yourself and your loved ones (within reason, of course). And, remember, friends, family, influencers, and people on the internet might not being talking about it, but we’re all right there with you. You’re not alone.

  1. In honor of Princess Kate’s birthday this week, browse her life in style.

  2. Dig into the story behind how Ericka Huggins and the Black Panther Party attempted to liberate black women.

  3. The story behind two founders tackling the loneliness epidemic and growing their pickleball brand.

  4. How to manifest your best year yet!

  5. Are millennials secretly rich and not telling the rest of us?

  6. Jennifer Aniston calls bullshit on the rules of aging and is rewriting them for herself. You should, too.

This weekend feels like a self-care weekend. It’s snowy and cold in Chicago so we’re cozying up inside. We have a TBR pile so big that we could read 20 hours a day every day and still not get through it. So, we’re starting there. It’s also bath season and we’ve returned to our Sunday morning soak ritual. We’re rotating between bath bombs, soothing epsom salt soaks, and this detox bath.

We’re continuing our barre and yoga workouts this weekend. If you want to join us for at-home barre workouts, try the Goddess Movement with a 7-day free trial.

In addition to reading, moving our bodies in loving ways, eating healthy meals and soaking in the tub, we’re baking! We have delicious sourdough cinnamon rolls on deck, and we’re testing out some new recipes like mini raspberry lemon cakes. Stay tuned!

We promise to leave the house (and recommend you venture out as well). It’s a great time to support your local restaurants who often have slower months in the winter. And, don’t forget about your January birthday friends—they deserve to be celebrated even if we just celebrated for two months straight. So, we’ll be joining a friend for their birthday dinner!
