Girl World #15: Sydney Sweeney, Good Girls, Romance Book IRL, Grace, Face Masks, Book Clubs, Statement Jackets, Mental Health Tips, and More
What's your winter break strategy?

Welcome to Girl World, a weekly newsletter inspired by Barbieland serving up inspirational content, need-to-know information, women in action, and a few bits and bites. We’re women—of course we can wear pink and crush our business goals. A Late August Media publication.
This year has flown by incredibly fast. We’re winding down to enjoy some well-deserved time off. But, before we sign off for the year, we wanted to share how grateful we are for each and every member of Girl World! In the 3.5 months since our first issue, we’ve grown 400% and couldn’t be prouder of creating a fun newsletter highlighting positive, inspiring, and informative stories that are all things Girl World. Thank you for joining us as we continue to learn and grow Girl World in 2025. ✨
For our last female-founded business feature before the holiday break, we’re suggesting going local. We’re past most of the shipping dates except rush shipping for larger retailers so we’re heading out to our local woman-owned romance book store to pick up a few last minute gifts. Here in Chicago, the Last Chapter bookstore is a Girl World favorite. It’s a hidden gem that’s perfectly curated for the romance book girlies in your life.
If you’re not in Chicago, we recommend looking to local boutiques and shops in your area. There are plenty of woman-owned businesses right under your nose! Take a moment to find a local business to support—whether its a bakery, a little jewelry shop, a flower shop, or anything in between. It’ll make all the difference!

It’s the weekend before Christmas and all through the house, we're finally in the holiday spirit! This weekend, we’re heading to the Taylor Swift themed Holiday House (outside of Chicago), getting in one more hot girl holiday walk to see the Christmas lights in our neighborhood, visiting a French bakery for some holiday treats, getting tea at Ralph’s, and wrapping all our gifts!
Of course, we’ll be getting cozy with all of the Christmas movies until further notice, including all of our favorites: The Holiday, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, Santa Clause, The Grinch, Bad Moms Christmas, and Miracle on 34th Street. And, we’ll be making all of the cozy pastas we can find—including this short rib ragu recipe.
Tomorrow is the Winter Solstice and it’s a good time to harness the energy create some winter magic. We’re getting out our journals and participating in a Winter Solstice yoga class.
Happy Holidays! We’ll be on hiatus until January 3. Enjoy your time off—whether you are super productive or majoring in bed rotting. Or, like us, maybe we’ll be doing a bit of both.
