Girl World #13: Sober Sex, Nonsense Christmas, Y2K, Astrology + Power, The Era Tour, Alex Cooper, Winter Fashion + More

We're back, baby.

Welcome to Girl World, a weekly newsletter inspired by Barbieland serving up inspirational content, need-to-know information, women in action, and a few bits and bites. We’re women—of course we can wear pink and crush our business goals. A Late August Media publication.

We’re back after the Thanksgiving holiday and happy to report that getting up at 5am to join a line outside Target for Taylor Swift merch wasn’t quite the 1999 Black Friday experience we thought it could be. It was better—no punching or craziness. It was just women (and a few good Kens!) in line talking to each other and connecting over all things Taylor and Girl World. Plus, we snagged The Eras Tour book and The Anthology Album. If you missed the album, which sold out quickly, it’s back in stock at Target.com.

Continuing with our women-owned small businesses feature this holiday season, let us introduce you to Megh Knappenberger, a fine artist based out of Kansas City and one of our favorite artists. Her art is the perfect gift for friends or yourself (you deserve it). Her collection spans wildlife to Taylor Swift and a little bit of everything in between.

Two of our favorite new brands from this year are Like, Honestly and Saint Sass. Like, Honestly is a fun apparel brand with something for everyone. And, Saint Sass? They have the best tights for winter—and they come with cute little statements like “Bite me.” printed on the bum, or “Mom, I am a rich man” on the thigh. We could use a little sass with our winter wear this year. Don’t you think?

💌 The Weekly 6

  1. Alex Cooper’s Forbes interview is worth watching all 30 minutes.

  2. The best reason to cut down on drinking? Sober sex!

  3. We’re not ready for the last stop on The Eras Tour, but we’re looking back at two years of incredible shows and the joy of community.

  4. Why are women less likely to use AI? It could have economic repercussions.

  5. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are back, baby. And, they mean business. Y2K nostalgia is deep here.

  6. Food is universal and the joys of cooking and eating are getting lost in our hectic day-to-day lives. Let’s consider slowing down to cook.

✌️ What We’re Doing This Weekend

It’s the final weekend of The Eras Tour and we’ll watch at least one—if not two—of the final shows via the grainy, shaky live streams we all hold near and dear to our hearts. Since The Eras Tour is on the West Coast, we have plenty of time to catch our girl, Sabrina Carpenter’s holiday special, A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter, which debuts tonight at 6pm ET on Netflix.

If you haven’t decorated for the holidays yet, join us by getting that tree up and/or your house decorated for the holiday you celebrate. It’s time to have some sparkly fun. When you head to the holiday bars and parties this weekend, wear the sparkly dress or the bright red pants or whatever “extra” fashion item you have in your closet and hesitate to wear. Life is meant to be fun, and with all the seriousness happening around us embrace all that is Girl World: have fun, be sparkly, and spend time with your loved ones (or find some new loved ones 😉).

We’re also doing a little holiday baking this weekend, including this Eggnog Bread Pudding (because YOLO). And, you don’t need to have kids to make these Buddy the Elf Rice Krispies Treats because we’re all kids at heart.

This weekend, we’re also reserving a few hours for a mini wellness and yoga retreat, which hopefully serves as a reminder to schedule in some self-care time for yourself every single week. Self-care isn’t just baths and meditation—it’s also reading, doing something fun, going on an adventure, having a girls night, investing time in learning a new hobby, or whatever your heart desires. The only rule is: there are no rules.
