Saying no to Mojo Dojo Casa Houses

Welcome to Girl World, a weekly newsletter inspired by Barbieland serving up inspirational content, need-to-know information, women in action, and a few bits and bites. We’re women—of course we can wear pink and crush our business goals. A Late August Media publication.
Where your attention goes, energy flows. After last week, Girl World might have been down, but it certainly wasn’t out. The nonsense has and will continue, but we all have a choice whether we’re going to entertain it or not. Hint: they want your attention.
We’re in the part of the Barbie movie after the Kens stole the Barbies’ houses and turned them into Mojo Dojo Casa Houses. We’re learning. We’re connecting. We’re drawing up our plans to take our houses back.
One thing has become very clear: financial security is crucial for women to thrive in the modern world—especially over the next four years.
Learn financial literacy and get a money plan in place. Know where your money goes and make choices that reflect your values. Ask for the promotion. Pick up a side hustle. And, save money instead of buying more things that you don’t need. Now, does that mean we’re not going to buy a few winter fashion pieces? No. But, it does mean that we’re going to use our money wisely, support women-owned brands when possible, and know that we don’t have to have every single “it” piece that’s trending on Tiktok.
Women are really great about building community—and it’s well past time that we reinvest our time in community so that we’re stronger, healthier, and happier. Go forth and sparkle this weekend.

✌️ What We’re Doing This Weekend
Is it time to start watching Christmas movies? We think so. Our watch list includes Hot Frosty (Netflix), Jingle Bell Run (Hallmark), Meet Me Next Christmas (Netflix), and dropping on Nov. 20 is The Merry Gentleman (Netflix), which stars one Chad Michael Murray pretty much shirtless and it’s written by Marla Sokoloff (Full House’s Gia!).
The newly released “Heartbreak is the National Anthem” book was just delivered. We can’t wait to read all about how Taylor Swift reinvented pop music, and it’s on the smaller side so you can easily knock it out in a weekend. Speaking of our favorite girlie pop, she’s in Toronto so we’ll be watching one of the concerts via the shaky, grainy livestream on TikTok/YouTube that we all know and love.
If you’ve been in your feels (and we can’t blame you!), it’s time to commit to a to-do list of things that make you feel good this weekend. That’s the trend we’re really diving into this weekend and for the rest of the year. And, frankly, next year, too. Have fun. Go see a movie this weekend. Go to a museum. Go to a yoga class or stream that pop music inspired YouTube exercise class. Re-read your favorite book. Rewatch Gossip Girl. Take a two-hour bath. Make a cookie recipe you haven’t tried before. Sign up for a class you’ve been wanting to try.
Let’s get cozy, have some fun, glow brighter, and let the Kens battle each other for a while.
